Tobi Fairley Design Camp Graduates from May 2012, Design Camp A to Z
Hello, Everyone!
I am so VERY happy to announce our Fall dates for Design Camp from A to Z:
November 7-9, 2012
- Do you get stuck when you try to complete a room design?
- Does your project lack the “wow” factor you’re looking for?
- Do you need solutions for with traffic flow and floor plan problems?
- Do you struggle with mixing fabrics and colors?
- Are there just too many product choices in the market that it keeps you from making a decision on what to buy?
- Do you know what you love, but when you get it home it never looks as good as it did in the store window or catalog?
- Do you want a room that looks like it was designed by one of the nation’s premier designers, but your budget just won’t allow?
If you answered “yes” to ANY of those questions, then A to Z is for you! It’s one of my favorite events, because I get to spend time with people like YOU, who love design. We truly cover everything, too, whether you are looking for a few tips to update your own home or you already have a design business and want to pick-up some new tools of the trade.
In this three-day training, we’ll walk through all 26 letters of the alphabet to help you translate your design sense into design SKILL.
These are a few of most-talked-about topics:

- A is for Art
- B is for Budget
- F is for Fabrics and Finishes
- I is for Inspiration
- N is for No No’s: Avoiding Designers’ Biggest Mistakes
- S is for Style and Shopping
- X is for X-tra Special Ways to Take Your Project to the Next Level.
And the best part is that when you complete this camp, you will have designed a room of your choice and walk away with all you need to make that room come to fruition! We’ll give you some homework prior to camp so you can come prepared to make your room design a reality during your three days on-site in my studio, here at Tobi Fairley Interior Design and Gallery.
Here’s what a couple of my past campers had to say about the experience:
What I cherish most about my decision to attend Tobi’s Camp is the hope I saw in Tobi, her staff and the others attending. It restored MY hope in this Business called Interior Design. It restored my understanding of a gift of talent given, not deserved. And it reminded me that our spaces, our homes, are the place where trust and gentility begin. That is worth working for. If not for our generation, then certainly the next. Please, if you are even thinking about going to camp, do so. Tobi Fairley is that rare bird of intellect and grace. She understands foundationally that we, like iron, are sharpened by each other. And seeds of talent need to be watered and protected. Don’t let the birds snatch them away. They are too precious.
Ann McDonald- Principal and Owner of Couture Chateau
What someone needs to communicate to potential campers is that the investment in the camp is miniscule compared to the return on the investment—the fact that a designer or decorator can spend 2 1/2 days in a warm, exciting environment and receive practical instruction at the same time they are being emotionally and aesthetically inspired is potentially worth thousands of dollars, virtually instantly, provided they utilize the information.
You have the uncanny and rare ability to successfully marry the disciplines of business and economics to the elements of all things beautiful, then present them in an entertaining, easy-to-understand manner. I can’t tell you how many times I have labored over fabric combinations or paint choices, but after our first camp, I completely understood and could utilize the methodology, and that is just one example of many I could cite.
Thank you for helping me, I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Mara, Little Rock
Did I mention that we also have lots of FUN? We will be hard at work during the day, but we will unwind in the evenings!! I have two great evening events planned, complete with drinks and Hors d’oeuvres. All of the campers tell me these gatherings are one of their favorite parts because they get to discuss what they learned during the day and really get to know their fellow campers, as well as me and my staff!
In addition to this wonderful camp, I have an add-on opportunity for you! If you are interested in Antiques (I am! I am!), we have an very special antiquing trip planned for Saturday, November 10th!
Join expert designer, entertainer, author and antiquer, Kathryn Crisp Greeley for her Second Annual Arkansas Antiquing Trip!!
With work spanning from the mountains to the coast of North Carolina and across the Southeast, Kathryn Greeley, owner of Kathryn Greeley Designs, is proud to be celebrating 30 years in the design industry.
Kathryn’s timeless interiors and expert knowledge of antiques and rare collectibles set her apart as a major tastemaker in the design and entertaining industries. She developed her sense of style from extensive training, experience and travel, all of which have led to her design philosophy of “collected, not decorated”.
Known for her gracious entertaining and expert knowledge of tabletop collections, Kathryn was primed to create her first book, which has garnered national media coverage on the radio and in print. The Collected Tabletop ‘s notable features include Traditional Home, Texas Home & Living, Carolina Home & Garden, SAVORNC, two appearances on the Martha Stewart Living Radio show and an upcoming segment on P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home show. She also introduced her invitation line, The Chestnut Cottage Collection, with Sanlori Designs this year, which feature watercolors from her book.

She plans on doing a NC tour soon! She was going to do one in Asheville this year, but with her book-signings and Cashiers Showhouse, it proved to be too busy a time!
