Hello, friends!
I’ve been over on my blog every day this month talking about all the things for which I’m MOST grateful. One of my greatest blessings in life is sharing with other professionals in the business of design my experiences and hard-won wisdom about building a thriving firm. I inspire confidence in these designers by empowering them to fulfill their highest potential, and they inspire me by thinking BIG and sharing their hopes and triumphs.
That’s why I’m excited to announce that our first Camp Tobi Fairley event for the new year is:
Designer MBA Camp: January 8-10*, 2013
*Please note: this is a change from the originally-announced dates!
Designer MBA is a business education for design pros. In it, we share the lessons I’ve learned as a business owner in the design industry. From fees to contracts to public relations, I offer tried and true tools and strategies that can give designers the confidence they need to professionalize their processes.
- Have you been considering joining a Mastermind program,
but don’t have the time or budget? - Have you ever wanted to engage with a group of like-minded people to discuss your business successes and failures, without the threat of competition?
- Have you wanted to learn from an expert in your field who has tested the market to learn what works and what doesn’t?
- Have you wanted to share ideas with industry peers and learn from their mistakes?
If you answered yes to any (or all!) of these questions, then you will love being a part
of Camp Tobi Fairley‘s Designer MBA Camp!
And if you just want to come alone, that’s ok too. You can sign up here!

Hear what others are saying about their experience:
After design school, hands down, this is the best class you can take.
Tobi is so generous with her time and her knowledge. I walked in frightened about the future of my business. I knew all the mistakes I was making, but had no idea how to get out of the hole I had dug. I walked out a confident designer! I have the tools to restructure, and am rebuilding for success. Thank you MBA camp!
Alison
My biggest takeaways were:
that I can say no to clients that aren’t my “ideal client”. That I now have a system to find my ideal client and to realize that I need to be comfortable charging what I am worth. I need to think about my area of expertise and promote that area of my business. There are areas that I need to remove from the services that I offer
planning the numbers to reach my financial goals; great ideas for services that can increase $ while waiting for larger projects, defining my niche; fees and charging and being up front with screening initial inquiries; actually doing a formal presentation to show what the client actually receives
My favorite part was:
how approachable and honest, helpful and generous Tobi and her staff were
The Designer MBA Course was:
life-changing and eye-opening, especially for a small business owner
amazing, life-changing, scary, fun, exhausting, challenging, inspiring
Something I achieved in this course that I couldn’t learn anywhere else was:
looking into myself and business so deeply and in such a short time – so reflective. What other designers are really billing/making/struggling with. I love these women!
